Disability Discrimination Act Adaptations

In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), the Bridgend County Borough Council contracted us to make access to the library easier for wheelchair users and the elderly. It involved reducing the levels to the restricted area at the side of the library, along with alterations to the drainage system to accommodate said reduction.

Amongst the works we carried out: the construction of a winding, sloping ramp, walls and handrails, and new boundary fencing and the addition of alternatives to the library doors.

Similar work was done to adhere to the DDA in various day centres across Carmarthenshire. The work also consisted of adapting existing doorways for wheelchairs, and providing new fire check doors internally. We constructed concrete ramps, handrails and walls to provide access to wheelchair users.
